You can be a lifeline for people affected by stroke, with a gift in your Will
Having an up-to-date Will is a great way to make sure the people and causes you care about are looked after in the future. The Stroke Association partner with a network of trusted local solicitors to give you the opportunity to write or update a simple Will in person with an expert, free of charge.
There is no obligation to include a gift to the Stroke Association to use the Free Will Scheme, but we're truly grateful to those who do. Every legacy we receive helps us to provide specialist support and connection, and fund life-changing stroke research.
Eligibility: Our Free Will Scheme covers simple Wills and is open to those aged 60 or over, and stroke survivors aged over 18, all year round.
How does the Free Will Scheme work?
- Register for your free Will today.
- We will send you everything you need to get started, including the details of your nearest participating solicitors.
- Contact your chosen solicitor directly, letting them know that you’ve been referred by the Stroke Association’s Free Will Scheme.
- Have your appointment with your solicitor as normal to discuss your wishes. Your solicitor will prepare your Will.
What is a simple Will?
Your solicitor will discuss your wishes with you at your appointment. If your situation is more complicated than a simple Will allows for, (for example, you own a foreign property) your solicitor will let you know up front.
If this is the case, there may be additional costs and your solicitor will discuss this with you before you decide to proceed.
Can I make my Will online?
Whilst we don’t currently offer an online Will-writing service, this may change in the future. Please let us know if you want to find out about other ways we can help you to write your Will.
