We need your support to reach stroke survivors and their loved ones across the UK.
People often spend more time on their own after a stroke which might lead them to feeling isolated. Having a regular chat can help people build confidence and feel more connected.
What's involved?
As a volunteer, you’ll support people by offering a listening ear and sharing your experiences.
You’ll need to be able to commit to a regular call at the same time each week for eight weeks. Calls should last around 30 minutes.
You’ll need to have your own email address, which you can access and use without support, and be comfortable accessing online training.
A weekly call could support someone to take the next step in their recovery.

Lived Experience volunteer role

If you’ve had a stroke, over one year ago, or care for someone who has, and feel you could support someone in their recovery journey, this role is for you.
As someone with lived experience of stroke, you know the effects can't always be seen or understood by the people around us. Sharing your experiences and talking through things on the phone can support people to understand their stroke better and learn new ways to cope.
Our Lived Experience volunteers tell us they often get as much from the calls as they give to the people they support.
