Take a look and see what our Online Community is about. No pressure. You can explore what others are talking about or, if you want, join the conversation when you’re ready.
We know that life after a stroke can be overwhelming. Our stroke forum was created to offer a safe and welcoming space where anyone affected by stroke can connect with others who understand.
What is the Online Community?
Think of it like a message board where people can write posts to share how they’re feeling, ask questions, or offer advice.
Whether you, or your loved one had a stroke last week or ten years ago, this is a community of thousands that know and understand what you are going through at your fingertips. Anytime, anywhere, on any device, we are here.
We work hard here in the background to make it a welcoming space for all affected by stroke, no matter where you are in the world. No question, comment (or vent!) is too big or small, and you can post without fear of judgement. You will likely find that everyone there has experienced something similar.
In short, you can do all or just one of the following:
- Read posts from other members.
- Write your own posts when you feel ready.
- Reply to others if you want to join the conversation.
- Tap a heart button to show you liked what was shared.
- Save posts you find helpful so you can come back to them later.
You can also get notifications when someone replies to you or updates on topics that matter to you. To stay updated on the go, download the DiscourseHub app for free on Apple and Android devices. If you’re unsure where to start, we’ve got a simple how-to guide to walk you through it.
Stroke support that helps you move forward
Many people tell us that reading about others’ experiences of stroke has helped them better understand what has happened to them, the ripple effect it has on their friends and family and ask questions about navigating the practical things like finances, transportation, employment, and of course recovery.
For one of our users, Ann, the community became more than just a place to ask questions. It helped her find reassurance, find a new normal after her stroke, and support others by sharing her experiences. She says:
“The Online Community helped me to see the light at the end of tunnel, and I wanted to share that with other people. I know first-hand how frightening stroke can be, so being able to reassure people in the early stages felt like a very worthwhile thing.”
