Why do we do research?

Research is essential if we are to prevent stroke, improve treatment and support recovery. Since the early 1990s, we’ve invested over £60 million in stroke research. This funding has deepened our understanding of stroke and driven progress in prevention, treatment and care.

Our new strategy sets out our commitment to investing in talented researchers and high-quality projects. It also champions stroke as a national research priority and helps ensure new evidence reaches real-world care more quickly.
